How to Give Without Losing

You’ve probably heard that “giving back” is important, and, of course, the way most people “give back” is by making donations to their favorite charitable organizations. And, while it’s true that donations are tax deductible, it’s also true that they don’t fit into every budget. If you want to do something good for others but don’t have the cash to donate, don’t worry. There are many ways to give back without spending money in the process.
Volunteer Your Time
It’s true that money can be helpful for charitable organizations, but so can time! You can make a huge difference, without spending a cent, just by volunteering your time to an organization you find worthwhile. Whether you’re rolling up your sleeves to build homes for the underprivileged or serving up dinners at the local soup kitchen, you’ll feel good about yourself and will help others when you volunteer your time.

One Man’s Trash…
You’ve probably heard the saying that “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” and that’s definitely true. There’s a good chance that you have plenty of items, like clothes or home goods,  that you no longer need. Instead of trashing those items, find a good charity to donate them to. Just make sure, when you donate, that you get a receipt since your donation is fully tax deductible!

Donate Blood
If you’re short on time and don’t have goods to donate, consider donating blood to your local Red Cross branch. This blood has the power to save lives, so it’s definitely worth doing. If you’re healthy and don’t mind a quick pinprick of pain, you can make a big difference just by donating your blood. Most blood drives even offer cookies and goodies as a “thank you,” so sign up!

As you can see, there are lots of awesome ways to give back without spending money. So, don’t feel like you can’t help because you don’t have money rolling in. Just find ways, such as these, to help without breaking the bank; you’ll be making a positive difference no matter how you give back!
