The Impact of Age and Gender on Financial Confidence

A recent online survey, the results of which were published by ABC News, found that, when it comes to asset management and other matters related to financial planning, Generation Y females are less likely than Baby Boomer females to take control over their own finances and retirement planning.  Instead, these females are more likely to leave financial planning up to their partners.

The study was conducted by Fidelity Investments and took a look at 1,616 individuals who were over the age of 25 and in a long-term relationship or marriage. The study found that only around 12% of Generation Y females considered themselves to be the primary decision maker as it related to financial matters and general asset management. Around 24% of Baby Boomer females identified themselves as such, however.

Women and all people are encouraged to take control of their own finances. No matter what your age or gender, know that you can get the help you need to be confident about making your own financial decisions. A great place to go for that help is Platinum Financial Associates of Naperville.
